“EPS4 goes live at Penny’s Hill Practice on 10th March 2020. If your prescriptions are already sent electronically to a nominated pharmacy then there is minimal change. If you do not have a nominated pharmacy, your prescription will be sent electronically to the NHS Spine and a pharmacy of your choice will then retrieve your prescription when you go to collect this by advising them of your NHS number. If you do not know your NHS number, ask your doctor when they are issuing you your prescription. Prescription tokens are also sometimes generated, however you can still get your prescription without these. If you do not currently have a nominated pharmacy but would like to nominate one, please speak to reception.”

Do you have ANY illness symptoms, a cough, temperature sickness or shortness of breath (however mild)?

Have you had contact with a confirmed case of Novel Coronavirus

If the answer to EITHER of these questions is yes,

PLEASE GO HOME IMMEDIATELY AND DO NOT ENTRE THE SURGERY.PLEASE RING NHS 111 WHERE YOU WILL BE CLINICALLY ASSESSED VIA PHONE.

You must self-isolate EVEN if you have no symptoms and feel completely well.

The latest guidance from Public Health England asks us to close any facilities that may have been used by patients who might be infected until further notice. Please help us keep the surgery open by ensuring that you do not attend if you have been in contact with someone with this virus or have travelled to or from the affected area and have any respiratory illness symptoms, such as cough, sore throat, cold, flu symptoms or shortness of breath. Please do not attend the surgery if you are concerned you may have novel coronavirus.

Anyone who has had contact with a confirmed case in the last 14 days should be reported to the local Health Protection Team.

Welcome to Penny's Hill Practice

Penny’s Hill Practice is a six partner practice providing a range of primary care and community health services from Ferndown Medical Centre. The practice has been a training practice since 1979 with regular placements of GP Registrars. The practice shares the purpose built premises with Orchid House Surgery with a range of community services also being provided from attached facilities. These include school health, district nursing, health visiting, speech and language therapy and chiropody.

Our practice boundary is bounded by the River Stour to the South, the Stapehill Roundabout to the West, West Moors Army Depot to the North and Azalea roundabout to the East. This has recently been extended in the north along the A31 to include St Leonards, St Ives and along to Three Legged Cross, and in the West to include Broom Hill, Colehill and back along Wimborne Road West to the Canford Bottom Roundabout. Please note the extended area has been agreed to accomodate any of our existing patients currently living within the inner boundary, who choose to make a local move to within the marked outer boundary. This does not apply to new patients.   Please see diagram below:

How do I register with a Doctor ?

writing Please bring your medical card to the surgery and a receptionist will register you with a doctor. If you do not have a medical card, please ask at reception for an application form. Please also see the Pre-registration tab.

Temporary residents are registered on a special form at reception.

This practice has a system of personal lists. This means that although you sign on with the practice, you will be registered with a named doctor and will be seen by that doctor. We believe this gives greater continuity of care for our patients. Where possible the practice will endeavour to ensure that we respect your right to express a preference of practitioner.  However, this may not always be possible and if so, an explanation will be offered.

New Patients

New patients will be given a health and medical questionnaire to complete.  This is important as it allows us to get to know you better and collect important information on past medical health, current problems and medication.  It is also a good time to ensure that all immunisations, contraceptive advice, cervical smears and blood pressure measurements are up to date.  The new patient information is vital to the doctor.  Once registered your records will automatically be requested from your previous Practice, this may take several weeks.  If your previous Practice has the capacity to send the records electronically, this can happen within a week.
